Antibes

Filed under: General — Marina @ 11:04 pm
This villa may strike you as modern, but it has a history dating back to 1935! It was designed by one of the key architects of the Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice, who lived there himself. It has the large stained glass "ocean liner" or "pâquebot" in the principle lounge area - I wrote about that a couple of posts ago... The boating theme is central to the villa’s character and it offers idyllic sea views. The central feature is the previously mentioned stained glass masterpiece, and a mezzanine in the far corner of the room supported by wide cylindrical columns is also of a unique design. The villa is recently re-modernised in an extremely tasteful manner, with dark wooden floors that blend perfectly with creams & lighter browns. Sliding glass doors give direct access to decked poolside. The pool itself is L shaped and is boarded by a combination of teak decking & English lawns. As you can see on the painting, there are enormous (teak decked) roof terraces, three tiers cover the whole roof (approx 200 m²) with spectacular views over the bay of La Garoupe. From up there you really do feel like you are on that ocean liner, the sea stretched out in front of you and the seagulls overhead. A perfect location for summer parties or a quiet evening ‘en famille’. From the villa it is a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Garoupe beach.

Sounds like a dream doesn't it! But it has been sold already, by my colleague Chris Davenport, hence the paintings, they are meant for the former owner and the new owner. Luckily we have similar houses in our portfolio at Riviera Home Finders! Visit our site for more information...

Roquebrune Sur Argens

Filed under: General — Marina @ 9:27 pm
The Marina Artists team has been pretty busy lately - here are two almost identical ("spot the differences") paintings: The seller and the buyer get one at the signing next week. This fantastic villa is in Roquebrune sur Argens with the backdrop of the rocher of Roquebrune. The buyers belong to the happy few: they are retired lawyers that have properties all over the place, Isle of Wight, South Africa and now France. I bet this villa will be their primary residence very soon, now that the weather is back to its normal South of France standard: over here it is gorgeous, sunny, classy, peaceful and healthy - much better than anywhere else in the world if you ask me!

Sainte Maxime

Filed under: General — Marina @ 9:10 pm
My latest aquarelle is for a villa with a stunning seaview in Ste Maxime... It was sold by Riviera Home Finders Var-colleague Valérie Chandler. The new owners have definitely good taste - and it is impossible not to love Ste Maxime!! It is located in the Golfe de Saint Tropez, faces straight south and is sheltered from most of the mistral by mountains. It is a truly beautiful location with an old town and superb gardens on the "Promenade". There are beaches everywhere, beaches with soft sand, not pebbles - in the center and on the way out of the city. Loads of fantastic terraces, sunshine and happy people... The best beach I'm told is La Nartelle (thanks to Mark for the picture).

Paquebot in Antibes

Filed under: General — Marina @ 8:09 pm
Maybe you do not think "Antibes" immediately if you see this... It is an aquarelle of a stained glass window (a "vitrail") in a beautiful villa that my colleague Chris Davenport of RHF-Antibes just sold. The aquarelle is for the former owners... The house itself is more than worthwhile and I'll write a post about it as soon as the other painting (for the new owners) is finished - but first a bit about this large stained glass window, that is found in the principle lounge area. It is listed within the ‘’Patrimoine de France’’, which means that it is formally a part of France’s heritage! Must be wonderful to have a work of art like that in your home... Apart from its' obvious worth, it is also a beautiful piece. I have had such fun painting it and love it even more now than when I just knew it from a picture. It is an ocean liner - or "Pâquebot", making waves in the sunshine. It used to belong to the Atrium on the 1st floor of the “Palais de la Méditerranée", where it was recovered after a fire - in 1932- that destroyed almost all of the palace. It was then transported to the Villa, with the permission of creator Marcel Dalmas, where it still is and will stay!Palais de la Méditerranée - 1929
