La Motte: Chateau des Demoiselles
For several (fun) reasons I have been visiting the Chateau des Demoiselles in La Motte recently - and what a beautiful place it is!
First of all because of the art they have on display - I'll come back to that later - and secondly the location... It is the most peaceful, beautiful spot in Provence you can imagine! Crickets and birds, are the only "noise" you hear over there... And as far as the eye can see: soft faraway hills, misty in the morning -and loads of vines on the red soil...
And thirdly: Chateau des Demoiselles is a magnificent domaine of 300 hectares, well known for its feminin and expressive wines. You can taste them 7 days a week, for free. Visit the cave from Monday to Friday and have a picnic on the terrain... There is no better way to spend your day in the Provence... Demoiselles also have a very stylish "maison d'Hotes". And as I said before a lot of art to admire, right now an exhibition of a Belgian Sculpturer and from tomorrow onwards, a certain Marina will show her aquarelles... I'll keep you posted...

Rayol-Canadel is in fact two tiny villages (Le Rayol and Canadel) that have developed around the nice sandy beaches. No less than 80% of the area is wooded, with forests of cork oaks and mimosa. Many great villa's are hidden in those trees, and one of them... was just sold by my RHF colleagues Katja Turkia and Valérie Chandler! And of course the Marina Artists' team made a watercolour for the new owners...
The village is set between St Tropez and Le Lavandou and is most welknown for the beautiful gardens of "Domaine du Rayol". These gardens are overlooking the sea and the bay of Figuier and the large marina. The village is of course popular in summer, but also in the winter, first of all because of the friendly micro-climate of the bay, but another good reason is the access to the ski slopes of Greolières les Neiges - only 2 hours away.

The new owners are a Belgian couple: they are going to live permanently in France - but first they'll get married. And after the festivities they plan to renovate the house and create a modern open plan living space and install solar panels and other eco-friendly mod-cons. Lucky them! We wish them all the happiness in the world - and frankly, they're in a good spot for it...
